In the Skill's Own Terms

Theme Factory provides 10 pre-set professional themes—each with a cohesive color palette (hex codes) and complementary font pairings for headers and body text—that can be applied to presentation slide decks, documents, reports, or HTML landing pages. Users first view the theme-showcase.pdf to see all options visually, select their preferred theme, then the skill applies the colors and fonts consistently throughout the artifact.

When none of the existing themes fit, the skill can generate a custom theme on-the-fly based on user input, show it for review, then apply it. Each theme is defined in the themes/ directory and carries a distinct visual identity suited to different contexts and audiences.

What it produces

  • A styled artifact with the selected theme's colors and fonts applied consistently throughout
  • A custom theme definition when none of the existing 10 themes fit the user's needs
See the example prompt ↗

How It Works

  1. 01
    Display the Theme Showcase

The skill shows the theme-showcase.pdf file to let users see all available themes visually, without modifying it.

  2. 02
    Wait for Explicit Theme Selection

The skill asks which theme to apply and waits for explicit confirmation of the chosen theme before proceeding.

  3. 03
    Read the Theme Definition

After selection, the skill reads the corresponding theme file from the themes/ directory to retrieve the complete color and font specifications.

  4. 04
    Apply Colors and Fonts Consistently

Apply the selected colors and fonts consistently, then check contrast, readability and the appearance of the actual artifact. A theme definition alone does not prove the rendered result is accessible.

02 Find your fit

When to Use the theme-factory Skill

Use the theme-factory skill in Claude Code or Codex when the job is brand and design-system work of this kind. Fit and limits below are taken from the skill's own file.

Good Fit

  • Applying consistent professional styling to presentation slide decks
  • Styling documents, reports, or HTML landing pages with cohesive color and font themes
  • Situations where you need a distinct visual identity suitable for different contexts and audiences

Know the Boundaries

  • Keep the supporting theme filesThe workflow reads theme-showcase.pdf and the selected definition under themes/. Installing only the entry instructions does not provide the palette and font specifications.
  • Review before applyingChoose and confirm the theme before changing the artifact. A custom theme is also shown for review first; rendering and font availability still need checking in the target format.

What to Provide

  • Artifact to styleAn existing slide deck, document, report, or HTML page that needs theme styling applied.
  • Custom theme description (optional)For custom themes, a basic description of desired colors or fonts to guide generation.

03 Inside the skill

Rules the theme-factory Skill Gives Claude Code and Codex

5 concrete instructions, defaults and limits the SKILL.md sets for the agent — the part of the file that changes the result.

  1. Never Modify the Showcase PDF

The theme-showcase.pdf must be shown for viewing only, without any modifications.

  2. Always Wait for Explicit Selection

The skill must get explicit confirmation about the chosen theme before applying it.

  3. Read Themes from the Themes/ Directory

Theme definitions must be read from the themes/ directory, which contains complete specifications for each of the 10 themes.

  4. Maintain Visual Identity Across All Slides

When applying a theme, the skill must maintain the theme's visual identity consistently across all slides in the artifact.

  5. Generate Custom Themes When Needed

If none of the 10 existing themes work, the skill must generate a new custom theme with a descriptive name similar to the existing ones, show it for review, then apply it.

Starter prompt
Style the attached product-roadmap presentation for enterprise clients. Show the theme showcase first; I am considering Ocean Depths but want to confirm after viewing it. Keep the slide content unchanged, apply only the approved theme, and check that the fonts, contrast and text layout work in the final deck.

Check the First Result

What the SKILL.md itself says a correct result looks like:

  • Check that proper contrast and readability are maintained after applying the theme
  • For custom themes, confirm the theme was shown for review before application
