In the Skill's Own Terms
This skill guides React interface implementation by combining shadcn/ui components (Radix UI primitives with Tailwind CSS), utility-first styling with Tailwind CSS, and canvas-based visual design systems. It targets Next.js, Vite, Remix, and Astro projects. Components are copied into your codebase via CLI, giving you full control and TypeScript type safety.
The skill covers responsive layouts, dark mode, design tokens, form validation, data tables, and canvas composition guidance. It includes reference documentation for component patterns, theming, accessibility (ARIA, keyboard navigation), responsive breakpoints, and Tailwind customization. Python scripts automate component installation and config generation.
What it produces
- React component and layout code using shadcn/ui and Tailwind patterns
- Theme tokens or configuration adapted to the project’s Tailwind version
- Canvas-oriented visual work when following the separate design-system reference
How It Works
- 01Initialize Shadcn/ui with Tailwind
Run npx shadcn@latest init to configure both shadcn/ui and Tailwind CSS, prompting for framework, TypeScript, paths, and theme preferences.
- 02Add Components to Your Codebase
Install components with npx shadcn@latest add button card dialog form, which copies them into your project for full control and customization.
- 03Compose with Utility Classes
Combine shadcn/ui components with Tailwind utility classes for responsive layouts, spacing, colors, and hover states directly in JSX className attributes.
- 04Apply Dark Mode Variants
Use next-themes for theme switching and add dark: prefixed utility classes to all themed elements for consistent dark mode support.
- 05Leverage Radix Accessibility
Use the accessibility behavior supplied by the chosen Radix primitives, then supply correct labels, semantics and composition. Verify focus, keyboard operation and announcements in the resulting UI; library choice alone does not establish accessibility.
